Abstract

Struggles for power, status, and privilege take place between and within camps. The political field that is in constant tension with the legal field is full of controversial chapters that lead to a dynamic of conservation and transformation of its properties. The attitudes of politicians in their discourses may (or may not) reveal what is implicit in the political game, limiting the universe of discourse to what is politically thinkable with the positions to be taken within the field. This limit will depend, of course, on the needs and demands that are at stake. It is in this context that the present study, based on the Bourdieusian methodology and theory of the camps, seeks to establish a point of contact between the political field and the legal field, especially with regard to the performance of the Brazilian Bar Association in the Military Coup 1964 and the 2016 Impeachment.
