Abstract

This article, using empirical research, analyzes the emancipatory senses sought by women who publicly present themselves as "Christian feminists". To this end, it is based on the conceptions of critical theory about emancipation and the public sphere, put into dialogue with deliberative feminist theories, especially that of Nancy Fraser, which serve to examine the interviews conducted with six "Christian feminists" in 2018. Thus, the bibliographical review of the concepts mentioned and the realization of semi-structured interviews were the methods chosen for the research. As a result, it is argued that the emancipatory senses sought, when transformed into public issues, need to maintain their political character and contribute to the deepening of democracy in Brazil.
