Theory and pragmatic trivialization of everything goes

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss some of the current interpretative trends used by the social sciences in general and by the so-called postmodern currents, which—generically—represent the approach of most social studies conducted in much of North American academia (weighing and measuring "social reality"), and which permeate the development of social sciences in the periphery.

In this regard, it is interesting to note that much of this work remains naive and inconsistent because the theoretical and methodological approaches used continue to be, on the one hand, notoriously ethnocentric and, on the other, their eminently causal and prescriptive nature, protected by the anything goes or pastiche theory as the supreme resource in the face of the lack of method and theory on which to base their studies, where romantic, idealistic, wilful, and distorted views of the past predominate, disassociated from the present and, of course, unanchored in the future.
